Ive been watching this since MIT announced it several years ago Its all based on the work of Nicoli Tesla back at the early part of this century Although he wanted to do it on a much larger scale and was at that time working on a transmitter that would send electricity to the entire world using the earth as the transmitter That is what his research on the Tesla Coil was for I can only imagine where we would be now if he had been allowed to continue his research, instead Westinghouse cut his funding and destroyed his prototype This type of technology is actually already used in RFID chips They use the same magnetic resonance effect to transmit power to the RFID chip, for an example think of the RFID chip that is in your toll tag, there is no battery or other power source in the tag, it receives power wirelessly from a transmitter I cant wait to see where this tech goes ?

that is so fucking kewl!! On a different note though, this may be the only truly good use they have come up with for the RFID chip in a toll tag, so long as there is no personal information on it.

RFID chips do not contain personal data, rather they transmit an assigned code that is then tied to your personal data
your personal data is not transmitted only your identifier so the reader detects this number and identifies you with it the same way someone can look at your license plate number

Wireless power has been achieved over great distances with Telsa's experiments in the matter. He was able to make light bulbs light over a mile from his coil in Colorado Springs. He even had a car that was powered by the coil a distance from his coil.
